GCSE celebrations as students secure exciting next steps
Students across Stamford Park Trust are celebrating today after collecting their GCSE and vocational results and securing the qualifications they need for their next steps.
There were fantastic achievements at Fairfield High School for Girls, Longdendale High School and Rayner Stephens High School, with exceptional individual performances alongside strong results across a wide range of subjects.
Jo, CEO of Stamford Park Trust, said:
“It is wonderful to see so many fantastic successes across the Trust today. We have witnessed some exceptional GCSE performances, ones which reflect the hard work of our incredible students, following great teaching and support from our fantastic staff teams.”
Fairfield High School for Girls celebrated another successful year, with 98 Grade 9 or equivalent results awarded, an increase from 85 last year.
The school saw particularly impressive success in Mathematics, with 14 pupils achieving a Grade 9. This represents 7% of the year group, compared with a national figure of 3.3% for female pupils in 2025. More than four in five grades achieved were at standard pass or above and more than three in five were strong passes.
There were also strong results in Religious Studies, Science, Drama, English Literature, Design and Technology and History, alongside further improvements for disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND.
Among Fairfield’s many individual successes was Rosie, who achieved six Grade 9s and three Grade 8s.
At Longdendale High School, students celebrated strong Grade 5 and above results in English and Mathematics, alongside impressive performances in Separate Sciences, Art, Business Studies, Dance, Music, Religious Education and Sport.
Martha achieved an exceptional three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and three Grade 7s, while Angelina secured one Grade 9, five Grade 8s, two Grade 7s and one Grade 6. Across the year group, students have secured places at sixth forms and colleges as well as apprenticeships and training opportunities.
The Class of 2026 at Rayner Stephens High School also achieved a positive set of results, providing further evidence of the school’s continued improvement. Encouraging progress was seen across several areas of the curriculum, alongside a significant narrowing of some of the differences in attainment between disadvantaged students and their peers.
Preaw Barker achieved four Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, one Grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction. She will now continue her studies at Ashton Sixth Form College, where she will take Physics, Chemistry and Further Maths.
George Bennett secured one Grade 9, three Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and a Level 2 Distinction and will begin a business administration apprenticeship. Evelyn Stanley achieved one Grade 9, two Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and two Grade 6s and will study Hairdressing at Tameside College.
For a number of students, results day also marked the next stage of their education within Stamford Park Trust.
Tayyaba from Fairfield will progress to Ashton Sixth Form College to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
She said: “I’m over the moon with my results. I didn’t expect to do so well and I’m unbelievably proud of myself. I’m really looking forward to going to Ashton Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.”
Robyn, who will study Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths at Ashton Sixth Form College, said: “I’m really happy with my results, especially my Music and Maths grades. I’m excited to go to Ashton Sixth Form where I’ll be studying Physics, Chemistry, Further Maths and Maths.”
Tayyaba and Robyn will be joined by fellow Fairfield pupil Lois, who will study Psychology, Health and Social Care and Sport Science, as well as Preaw from Rayner Stephens.
